Have you heard about the new PortoBay Hotel, in Lisbon?

Hotel Lisbon

Last weekend I had the opportunity to visit Lisbon and stay in the new boutique hotel of PortoBay Hotels & Resorts – Hotel PortoBay Marquês.

This hotel opened doors only three weeks ago and it is already a hit.
Here’s why:

Location
This hotel is perfectly located: 5 minutes walk from the metro at Marques de Pombal Square and a short walk from Avenida da Liberdade.

Hotel
PortoBay Marquês is a charming hotel set in a, not too large, historic building with a relaxed atmosphere. It displays an intimate decoration containing design pieces such as vintage radios, a library with a nice collection of books , beautiful photographs of Lisbon by Henrique Seruca and a warm welcome from the minute you step in.

The Hotel has also 2 bars; Bar de baixo and Bar de cima – rooftop bar. This is the ideal place to soak up the light falling on the rooftops of Lisbon, listen to some music and have a drink by the end of the day. If you want to lay down under the sun there is also a solarium with a small heated pool that has a strong jet of water, which invites you to relax.

Rooms

PortoBay Marquês has several types of rooms, from singles, to superior or to the suites with balcony. Some rooms are ideal for families as they have extra amenities such as microwave, refrigerator and sink. If you’re traveling with small children you will be happy to know that even in the standard rooms, the microwave can be provided by request.

The 71 rooms are decorated with neutral colors and wood, providing everything you might need to have a pleasant stay. From the minibar to the tea kettle, to room service, everything is taken care of, including in small details which bring a nice sense of humor to the experience.

I really liked the desk, the design is beautiful and has a small radio, the vintage style.

It has also an interactive flat-screen TV displaying national and international channels.

My room overlooked a courtyard, surprisingly quiet considering that we are in the heart of Lisbon.

The bathroom is super spacious, illuminated by a large mirror and bath with rain shower. The Rituals bath products are a nice touch.

Warning: You are most likely to get addicted to this bed, as the mattress, the mattress pad and bed linen feel as if they’re singing you a lullaby song – incredibly comfortable :).

Restaurant TRATTORIA32

The cuisine of PortoBay Marquês has a taste of Italy with a touch of Portugal.
It has an industrial-chic decor and the menu has very affordable prices, whether at lunch (menu for € 15) or dinner. The flavors and the nice atmosphere made me recall Basilico Restaurant in Funchal, which belongs to the Hotel of the same company.

At dinner I tasted the beef Carpaccio with Mediterranean seasoning, followed by linguine of crab and for dessert, I’ve had pineapple roasted with coconut ice cream, accompanied by a Madeira glass of wine – a happy ending to a great meal.

In the morning, breakfast was accompanied by a cappuccino, fresh bread, fresh fruits, cereals, yoghurts, cheese, eggs, bacon and a blueberry muffin that was a dream.

Tip: It would be interesting to also feature a children’s menu, since the hotel offers family rooms.

Conclusion:
This is a boutique hotel with a great location of Lisbon.
It is tastefully decorated offering a good night sleep, delicious meals and a friendly atmosphere.
Another good reason to visit Lisbon soon…
