[:en]    Discovering Câmara de Lobos: A Hidden Gem in Madeira During one of the recent holidays, we took a trip to Câmara de Lobos, a charming fishing village on Madeira Island. The sun was shining, and the town was bustling with tourists. The pedestrian streets were lively, the colorful fishing boats (called xavelhas)were docked along the shore, and children laughed joyfully as they raced downhill in homemade go-carts. In contrast, the local church stood quiet and empty—a serene spiritual presence in the heart of the main square. All around, you could hear the **waves crashing on the pebble beach** and the murmur of conversations from the nearby bars. We enjoyed a traditional poncha with peanuts, followed by grilled limpets (lapas) served with warm bolo do caco. The sunburnt skin of the fishermen, the sparkle of the Atlantic, the pebbled shore, the scenic bay, and the endless horizon created a picture-perfect moment.
