PARIS for KIDS | A TRAVEL GUIDE (without the obvious, like Euro Disney)

So this Xmas we went to Paris. Why Paris? First of all, it’s a city my sons had never visited before, I’ve studied there for a few months, and I absolutely love it. Second, they’re starting to learn French at school, so an excellent way to get familiar with the language and culture. And finally, because it’s PARIS, the city that makes believe in love, so that’s more than enough reasons for me. Here’s a few tips for romance in Paris for two. PARIS for Two , 40 tips “She liked to be in Paris, favourable city to lovers, where the taxi chauffeurs never interrupted a kiss …” Anais Nin Paris. Each reunion is like the first time; discovery and excitement. I never get tired of Paris; there is always a new neighbourhood to find, a new spot to relax, a new graffiti to admire … and then there is the Seine, this river of stories to tell, that transports us to another century. I unplug from reality. The sounds of Paris … the movement of Pigale and its mills, the clicks of cameras that shoot in front of the Moulin Rouge, the “bateaux” sailing down the river,  the subway musicians, the sights of tourists sitting on the steps of Montmartre and voices of vendors carrying miniature flashing Eiffel Towers. The colours of Paris, pink (like life there), the green lawns, the grey roofs, the lake in Tuileries Garden and the multi-coloured shops like Pylones. “Era uma vez em Paris…”

“Era uma vez em Paris” é o nome de um bar que adoro na cidade do Porto, tem aquele ar burlesco e uma banda sonora excelente, mas não é do Porto que falo neste post… Vou antes falar-vos de como foi em Paris ,cidade, que inspirou um dos meus filmes preferidos: O fabuloso destino de Amelie Poulain. Conheci-a pela primeira vez há 12 anos atrás. Cheguei de malas a tiracolo para ficar 3 meses. Era Erasmus na Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária de Maisons Alfort . Vivia na Universidade. Adorei. Aprendi. Estudei. Conheci. E quando as aulas terminavam partia à descoberta da cidade e apaixonei-me completamente. Percorri Paris lentamente, com prazer. Saboreando cada descoberta, cada conquista, cada aprendizagem. As memórias desses dias passam por dar mais uma volta de metro só para ouvir tocar acordeão… ir às galerias Lafayette arregalar a vista…comer um crepe com nutella na rua…e as inúmeras visitas ao nível 5 do museu de Orsay.
